Palazzo Sant’Anna – a sensitive restoration of a historic building in the heart of Trapani

The Palazzo Sant’Anna project represents a comprehensive and carefully executed restoration of a historic property located on Piazza Ghiaccio in the central part of Trapani. This four-story building, set within a traditional city block, has undergone a transformation aimed at preserving its authentic character while introducing modern comfort and functionality.

The entrance has been designed with a focus on both security and aesthetics, seamlessly leading into a spacious foyer enriched with refined architectural details. The vestibule incorporates both original and restored elements – a masonry bench decorated with antique tiles and renovated white ceiling beams that highlight the building’s historical context. A notable technical feature is the integrated water cistern in the basement, efficiently serving the entire property.

A key feature of the project is the newly constructed metal staircase connecting all floors and leading to a private rooftop terrace. This architectural element is complemented by a thoughtfully designed lighting concept and enlarged window openings, allowing for abundant natural light. The upper section of the staircase, with access to the roof, features decorative framing and glass doors that enhance the sense of light and space.

The façade restoration respects the building’s original character, using light tones and subtle illumination of the historic balconies. Custom-made railings, crafted by a Sicilian blacksmith, unify the visual language across the entrance gate, balconies, and shared spaces.

The Palazzo Sant’Anna project naturally integrates into the atmosphere of Trapani’s historic center, emphasizing its unique character. Located close to the sea and within walking distance of Corso Vittorio Emanuele, the area is currently undergoing gradual public space revitalization, further enhancing its overall value.

Trapani, often referred to as the city of salt and sailing, is a place where history, culture, and natural beauty intertwine. Its historic center, surrounded by the sea, along with proximity to the Egadi Islands and other key destinations in western Sicily, makes it a consistently attractive location.

Palazzo Sant’Anna stands as an example of how a respectful approach to heritage can result in a timeless and high-quality space that fits naturally within its surroundings while meeting contemporary standards.

This project is the result of our comprehensive development and realization.
